Down Comforter Information
-
Down is the lightest, most effective insulator known to man. Down clusters are
made up of light, fluffy filaments that expand and intertwine to form air
pockets. Down is a natural product that regulates warmth and allows you to
maintain your natural body temperature. Down keeps you warm in the winter and
cool in the summer for year round comfort.
True Baffle Box Construction
-
This type of construction has thin fabric wall channels that connect the
comforter top and bottom. This allows for the down to be held in place
allowing for maximum loft, less shifting and the elimination of cold spots for
greater warmth. True baffle box construction is the only way to ensure that
the down will not shift.
Fill Power
-
Fill Power refers to how down clusters are measured. Large clusters loft
higher and provide better insulation and breath-ability. Higher Fill Power
offers greater loft and insulation, providing maximum warmth without excess
weight.
Thread Count
-
Comforter shells must be woven of a down proof 100% cotton fabric of at least
220-thread count. Our Extra Warmth down comforters are 400-thread count. The
world’s finest cotton is always used in the process.
Hypo-Allergenic
-
The down is washed to remove naturally occurring dirt and dust normally found
in down products. Our Super Clean down is hypoallergenic to assure the highest
purity levels.

What To Consider When Shopping For Down Comforters
|
|
The finest quality Down Comforters will have a fill power of at least 600.
They will be baffle wall construction, with a high thread count, 100% cotton
cover. They will provide lightweight, year round warmth and come with an
extended warranty.
Fill Power
The measurement of the quality of the down. The higher the
fill power, the fluffier the comforter. The benefit is that less down is
needed to fill the comforter, resulting in lightweight year round warmth. Look
for down comforters with a fill power of at least 550. More luxurious quality
down comforters will have a fill power of at least 600.
Construction
Baffle Wall Construction- The finest quality Down
Comforters will be of baffle wall construction. Baffling or baffle wall refers
to sewn in cloth walls which help keep the down from shifting and prevent cold
spots.
Hypo Allergenic- Down that has gone through a series of
steps to remove all the impurities, dirt and dander, will be noted as
hypoallergenic or allergy free. Most people are not allergenic to down, but
rather, to the impurities within the down. Not all Down Comforters are
hypoallergenic.
Thread Count- The number of threads per square inch of
fabric. The finest quality Down Comforters will have a 100% cotton cover with
a thread count of at least 200. The higher the thread count, the more durable
and softer the cover. The higher thread count covers protect down from
impurities as well as keep the down inside the comforter.
100% Cotton Covers- A cotton cover will be breathable,
lending to the insulation and fluffiness of the comforter.

Superior Quality
|
Down is the lightest best insulator known to man. Nature has designed it to
help maintain optimum core body temperature by transferring heat away from the
body when the air outside the down layer is hot, and by holding in heat when
the air outside is cold.
Our Alexandra Jordan comforters use only an industry
leading 90% white goose down fill, with a 700 fill power. With almost no large
feathers, but rather a high quality superior insulating down used in our fill,
our comforters can achieve the same level of insulation as thicker, heavier
comforters while offering a lighter fluffier feel, and weight.
We also use only high quality materials and construction in
the makeup of our comforter covers. We use only high thread count 100% cotton,
down proof material for durability and comfort. We use double stitched seams
that wont rip apart. We use a baffled box construction that eliminates cold
spots by keeping the down evenly distributed within the comforter.
